Most solar quotes are a price list. What you need is an investment case.

A quote can be completely honest and still be wrong about what solar will save you. Usually it is missing the five things that decide the answer.

Demand charges left out

On a big commercial bill, demand and capacity charges can be a serious chunk of the total, and solar barely touches them. Net off the energy usage only and the saving looks better than it is.

Sized to the roof, not the load

Filling the roof is the easy thing to quote. But if the site shuts early or runs light at midday, those extra kilowatts get exported at a feed-in rate instead of saved at a retail one.

The wrong tariff, or a flat one

Peak, shoulder and off-peak windows decide what each generated kilowatt-hour is worth. Flatten them into one rate and the payback can move by years.

No battery case, either way

Battery or no battery should be a comparison you can see rather than an upsell or an omission. Sometimes storage beats another 40 kW of panels. Sometimes it clearly does not.

Incentives and site works blurred together

Is the price before or after certificates? What switchboard, network or roof work is not in it? That is where the surprises come from. Both should be itemised.

Do I need an account to get an estimate?
No. The free estimate needs an address and a rough idea of what you spend. You don't need an account or a password, and nobody rings you afterwards.
Do you install solar?
No. We don't install systems and we don't take a commission from anyone who does. We model the numbers so you can judge the quotes you get.
I already have a quote. Can you tell me if it is any good?
Yes — quote comparison is part of the full analysis. We model your site independently, then hold the sizing, pricing and incentive treatment in your quote up against it.
How accurate is the free estimate?
It's a first pass. It uses a typical weather year for your location and a standard tariff, so it's good enough to decide whether to look further. Upload a bill and your real tariff and consumption replace the assumptions.
What happens to my bill after I upload it?
It's used to model your site and nothing else. The bill file itself is never shared or sold. We only share your contact details with an installer if you give express consent — one accredited local installer, who contacts you by the method you choose. Or take the $15 bill-analysis PDF and nobody contacts you.
What does it cost?
The Quick Estimate is free and stays free. The full analysis is also free when you agree to have an accredited local installer double-check it and reach out with a quote, by the method you choose. If you would rather not be contacted, the bill-analysis PDF is a one-off $15 including GST.
Which incentives apply to my business?
It depends on your state and how big the system is. We model STCs or LGCs depending on the system, plus VEEC in Victoria, PDRS in New South Wales, and Cheaper Home Batteries where a battery qualifies.
What are VEECs and is my business eligible?
VEECs are a Victorian scheme that gives you certificates you can sell to offset the install cost, and commercial solar has its own eligibility band within it. Thresholds and certificate values are set by the Essential Services Commission and change from year to year, so treat any figure you read as a starting point. We check your system against the rules in force for your install year.
Can I get both STCs and VEECs?
Yes. STCs are the national scheme and VEECs are a separate Victorian one, so a Victorian project can claim both. STCs are capped at the first 100 kWp of a system; anything above that earns LGCs on the balance rather than nothing. We split it correctly and show the combined value. An announced federal change is set to extend STC eligibility to 1 MW for installs from 1 October 2026, subject to regulations.
Is my site too small to bother?
If your power bill is above roughly $40,000 a year, it's worth modelling. Below that, the free estimate will tell you quickly and cost you nothing.
