Estimate only. VEECs apply in Victoria to 30–200 kWp systems. Certificate prices fluctuate.

How VEECs are calculated

Under Victoria's VEU program, certificate volume = system kW × an input factor (0.13 for 30–100 kWp / 47A, 0.245 above / 47B) × a 10-year lifetime × a regional factor (metro Melbourne 1.0, regional 1.04). Value is the certificate count × the VEEC market price.

How the VEEC scheme works

What a VEEC is

A Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate, or VEEC, is created under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program. One certificate stands for one tonne of greenhouse gas emissions avoided by an approved upgrade. Energy retailers are legally required to surrender a set number of certificates each year, and that obligation is what gives them a market value.

How the discount reaches you

You do not register certificates yourself. An accredited provider does the modelling and paperwork, creates the VEECs from the completed upgrade, and passes their value back as an upfront discount or rebate on the work. Because the certificate price moves with the market, the calculator uses a current estimate you can adjust to match a quote.

Who can claim

The program runs in Victoria only. Eligible activities are set by the scheme and cover measures such as lighting, heating and cooling, hot water, and refrigeration, each with its own formula for how many certificates it generates. Enter your details above for an indicative certificate count and dollar value for your site, then confirm the final figure with an accredited provider before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Who can claim VEECs for solar?
VEECs apply in Victoria to commercial solar systems between 30 kWp and 200 kWp under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program. Smaller systems use federal STCs.
How are VEECs calculated?
System kW × an input factor (0.13 for 47A / 30–100 kWp, 0.245 for 47B / above) × a 10-year lifetime × a regional factor (metro 1.0, regional 1.04).
How much is a VEEC worth?
VEEC prices float with the market; the calculator defaults to $72; adjust it under Advanced to match your quote.
